    Free Lunch!

A boat trip crew member hurled the fish overboard to attract sea animals but passengers were stunned when the Great White Pelican caught two in its huge bill.

With the winter sun setting at our backs..our bellies full of moules...frites....waffles.....and les merveilleux......

Creamy béchamel is the perfect foil for morsels of intensely savoury Spanish ham..a plate of croquetas de jamón and a cold glass of fino sherry...

No breaking news..the Benedictine abbess Hildegard of Bingen noted the mind-altering effects of nutmeg all the way back in the 12th century.

Cloves.cinnamon...mace and nutmeg....the spice islands spices.....

I suggest beer and boerewors in front of the telly tonight and coffee and Koeksisters..braided...syrup coated little doughnuts....

    Orecchiette!

It's the truth..it's the only oil in the world that can be consumed raw!

Originally a simple tomato-based pasta sauce eaten by Italian sailors..we are more used to it with the addition of seafood...

I often do the pasta with chestnut flour..if you can’t find it...use spelt flour or barley flour....the key is to get an earthy flavor going.....

    Tapas!

San Sebastian..in Spain's Basque region is famous for its version of tapas called pintxos...which are served as bar food....its restaurants have a high proportion of Michelin stars.

The flavor of a boquerón is completely different from that of an anchoa..when placed together on top of a piece of good garlic toast...the combination is out of this world....

Kalimotxo is a drink consisting of approximately 50% red wine and 50% cola-based soft drink...

    Mini Pikelets!

With the Christmas party season upon us..take a few shortcuts with some supermarket finds and let our creative touches make them special!

It makes a change from turkey..roast pork with baked butternut squash...followed by a very British baked apple trifle....

Were they inquisitive about how a root vegetable from their garden could make its way into a chocolate cake...

    Pumpkin Soup!

She kept remarking about how velvety smooth it was..how she could hardly feel it on her tongue because it was so perfect and smooth.

Heavenly..and rich with the unusual flavour combination of dates...nuts and fresh ginger....

Christmas cake is given a chocolate coating to make these more-ish bites..serve with an Irish coffee for the best match...
