Best Medicine, Hearty Laughter and Orphan Kids! - Feedback: @Health!
Bill Gates and the president of General Motors have met for lunch, and Bill is going on and on about computer technology. If automotive technology had kept pace with computer technology over the past few decades, you would now be driving a V-32 instead of a V-8, and it would have a top speed of 10,000 miles per hour, says Gates. Or, you could have an economy car that weighs 30 pounds and gets a thousand miles to a gallon of gas. In either case, the sticker price of a new car would be less than $50. Why haven't you guys kept up? The president of GM smiles. Because the federal government won't let us build cars that crash four times a day. Dr. Know discusses a recent University of Maryland study, which concludes that laughter really is the best medicine for staying healthy. Learn more about laughter in this video from Discovery.
People who laugh heartily on a regular basis have lower standing blood pressure than the average person. When people have a good laugh, initially the blood pressure increases, but then it decreases to levels below normal. Breathing then becomes deeper which sends oxygen enriched blood and nutrients throughout the body. Laughter can be a great workout for your diaphragm, abdominal, respiratory, facial, leg, and back muscles. It massages abdominal organs, tones intestinal functioning, and strengthens the muscles that hold the abdominal organs in place. Not only does laughter give your midsection a workout, it can benefit digestion and absorption functioning as well. It is estimated that hearty laughter can burn calories equivalent to several minutes on the rowing machine or the exercise bike.
So I prayed and asked God how I can bless this little one who has been through so much. So after talking to Ps Maria I decided to invite Wendy and a few of the other orphan kids back to my house on Monday to eat and play and watch a movie with my boys. I picked up 4 of them and I wanted to feed them as much as I could (healthy), and they ate more than anyone I’ve ever seen. We watched a movie and then I moved all my furniture back and got our markers, crayons, Mr. Potato Head and every other toy we owned and we had so much fun. They were all so well behaved and polite, no fighting or whining. They loved the Hillsong Kids Worship DVD I played for them. Mason was so excited to serve them all juice and help me serve them food. Wendy fell asleep in my chair while the other kids played, so I sat beside her for a while and prayed over this little life, that God created for a plan and purpose. I’m excited to see what God has in store for His little children.

Lactose Intolerance, Oprah and Only $0.07! - Feedback: @Food!
When confronted with the idea of foods that provide far greater health benefits than what we may expect, commonly referred to as superfoods, many of us might be tempted to dismiss them as hype or outright fiction. The fact is, however, that superfoods do indeed exist, and we shouldn’t be surprised by them. Superfoods are simply highly vital, nutritionally dense foods that offer considerable dietary and healing potential. Those with allergies such as nut allergies or lactose intolerance, would obviously not experience benefits from consuming nut butters or yogurt, respectively. Superfoods also function best as part of a well-balanced, healthy diet. Superfoods should not make up the entirety of foods consumed, as they can not offer a complete spectrum of essential nutrients. Instead, superfoods should be liberally consumed as part of a healthy, rounded diet.
Know the five ingredients to avoid (high fructose corn syrup, sugar, enriched flour, trans fat, saturated fats). The healthy foods to add to your diet: Antioxidants (Dr. Oz recommends tomatoes, broccoli, kidney beans, blueberries, artichokes and prunes), Omega-3 fats (salmon, scallops, walnuts, ground flaxseeds, soybeans and squash), Fiber (oatmeal, 100% whole grain bread, lentils, pine nuts, peas and raspberries) and Olive oil. Oprah’s ability to influence her audience’s behavior is legendary, and retailers should take note of these recommendations, as they may influence purchasing behavior. If we see a significant spike in sales of the products highlighted on the show, we may be able to attribute that to Oprah.

Only a small percentage of the population perceive the non-verbal signs at the consciousness level and can use body language as a tool to read others and to present themselves and their messages in a reliable way. These people can create empathy, detect lies within seconds, and feel immediately when its the right time to close a deal. Others can learn it; many politicians practice body language techniques and use personal training for these purposes. Similarly, police and security experts are trained to understand body language as a tool to detect lies. In the corporate world, body language interpretation is a key tool in the interview and hiring process of new employees. Some companies even have a body language expert present during interviews and as part of a negotiation team for large-scale deals.

Experience Life, Finish the Sentence and Sponsorship! - Feedback: @Sports!
Five years ago, I was working a desk job in Canada, staring out the window, wondering how life had brought me to this place. My job wasn’t stimulating, my friends were all getting married and still single at 30, I felt the best years of my life were behind me. Infused with a new lease on life, I booked my ticket, sold my few possessions and said goodbye to my bewildered friends. I built a website to share my blog with friends, family and strangers, and set out to experience life. Well, a funny thing happened on the way to my global adventure. My blog led to a column in a newspaper, and traffic to my website boomed. I was not alone in my desire to travel the world!
If we truly are a global village, where hopes, dreams and wisdom are shared in unity amongst diverse cultures, Finish The Sentence explores what it means to be human on this planet. When I had the opportunity, each person I connected with on my journey was asked to finish the same three sentences and with their consent, I snapped a picture of them too. Reading everyone’s answers across the different continents just might help you finish some sentences of your own. With summer in full swing, the beaches packed and the skies deep blue, Australians have every right to feel right on top. It’s my first English speaking country since leaving Canada ten months ago, and it was never going to be a problem meeting new mates. Along with family and old friends kindly opening their doors for me, here are the locals and travellers I broke bread with during my four weeks on the island continent.
Sports have always been considered a safe bet for sponsors. No longer. Sports need to provide new extensions for partners and tie-in cause -related marketing to their sponsorship deals and should tap into social media for activation to be effective. Focus on retention and fulfilment. I will be blogging about how to provide sponsors better fulfilment reports. Sponsorship has gone beyond the traditional marketing measurement scope of reach and frequency. Sectors with biggest growth opportunities are festivals, fairs and annual events, associations and member organizations.

The extreme physical wear and tear that professional athletes endure can cause a myriad of injuries, aches and chronic pain which can often lead to the use of painkillers. Managing pain is one of the biggest issues doctors and trainers face when treating injured players. Prescription narcotics fall into the category of opioids, which include powerful drugs like morphine, codeine and heroin.

Added-Value, Regulations and New Economy - Feedback: @Focus!
Dr Patrick Dixon is often described in the media as Europe's leading Futurist and has been ranked as one of the 20 most influential business thinkers alive today. Over 11 million people have used the website which began in 1995 as a personal storehouse for press articles and other writing. Without any advertising, the site has been developed in response to traffic patterns, adding to popular pages and topics, all available as a public service. The future is about a world where information is free, ideas are widely broadcast, use and adaptation encouraged. The real added-value of course is knowing exactly how to apply ideas to build a better kind of future for your own business, yourself, family, community and wider world. If you are an entrepreneur and want to make history, get into multimedia web publishing as fast as you can, but make sure your backers are in for the long haul. Push the medium to the limits, invest in first class information sources, give it all away for free, generate heavy traffic and sell advertising space.
Gordon Brown claims that the downturn marks the end of the era of laissez-faire government. In an interview with the Guardian, the prime minister concedes that in retrospect he wishes he had mounted a popular campaign 10 years ago to demand more responsible regulation of the world's financial markets. He attempts to draw a line under calls for him to make an apology by admitting that the national system of regulation he helped establish in 1997 could not keep pace with the massive global financial flows. I take full responsibility for all my actions, but I think we're dealing with a bigger problem that is global in nature, as well as national. Perhaps 10 years ago after the Asian crisis when other countries thought these problems would go away, we should have been tougher, keeping and forcing these issues on to the agenda like we did on debt relief and other issues of international policy.
Brands are landing points; we follow our needs and invariably end up at a brand. This is all set to change. The brands of the future will be vehicles and not just destinations. The success stories of the last decade were built on this principle; Google and YouTube being the two most prominent human gateways. Our journey does not finish with Google and YouTube, thats where it starts. The days of the static brand are increasingly numbered, as they become a means and not an end. This is not just a new economy dynamic; all brands must take heed of this.

Foundation Repair, Analyzer Tool and Water Saving!
Providing necessary foundation repair is a top priority before attempting to waterproof your basement. Many foundation crack repair techniques deal solely with covering the cracks with hydraulic cement, epoxy or sealer. When moisture eventually loosens the water soluble ingredients and expansion and contraction takes place, these quick fix solutions usually fail. If the home’s drainage systems have failed, water pressure is yet another factor. When cracks appear, the cracks will go clear-through the entire wall to the outside surface. Trying to seal them solely from the inside with some sort of waterproofing sealer is temporary at best. Foundation cracks will continue to move as warmer and colder weather causes continuous expansion and contraction of the structure. For permanent results, your foundation waterproofing contractor must provide a system that can expand and contract with your foundation, as well as bridge and defects in you walls.
Use the Wet Basement Analyzer Tool to identify what type of problem you have in your basement and to determine what type of repairs you need to fix your problem. It is not unusual that a basement is damp but has no signs of visible liquid water leakage. Many times that a homeowner complains about 'dampness' issues in their basement, it is directly related to humidity problems. If you don’t see actual liquid water in the form of streams, puddles or leaks, chances are pretty good that your problem is related to high humidity and not to water leakage. The remedy is to buy a good dehumidifier for your basement. Because a basement is below ground level, the air, walls and floors are cooler than the temperatures upstairs. Warmer air from upstairs or from outside, shrinks or “condenses” as it enters your cooler basement. This leads to a higher humidity level and causes basement dampness.
Going green has been all the rage for the last several years now. With that said, it’s also very clear that the trend is not going away any time soon. Having green improvements made-such as the installation of a tankless water heater, programmable thermostat, rain water powered lawn sprinkler system, and water saving shower heads look to be some of the most often implemented home improvements when we look back in retrospect at 2009. After all, these improvements are not only affordable, but they all save serious money in the long run and provide significant positive environmental impact.

Feeds by Friends, Profitable and Business Opportunities!
The ability to easily sort customized feeds deserves special attention. Facebook began to roll out a new design of its homepage, with a number of subtle features intended to make feed-based social networking more intuitive for the typical user. With the changes, sorting feeds by friend lists, people can more quickly gather specific types of information from within feeds. Rather than asking the somewhat restricting 'What are you doing right now?' the new version of the Publisher asks you the much more general 'What’s on your mind? That’s big because that’s what has made Twitter explode in growth. Facebook realizes the use of real-time updates has moved far beyond that. And you’ll notice that Facebook no longer ties this information to your name. So it’s no longer you are doing such and such, it’s just your name followed by your message.
Twitter business model is found! Jason Calacanis just put Twitter in business. How? He offered $250,000 to be one of 20 users in Twitter's 'Suggested Follows' for two years. Twitter is growing so fast that being on the suggested list for new users can generate more than 10,000 followers a day. Jason thinks the slots will soon be worth a Super-Bowl-like $1 million a year, as companies compete to be able to send real-time messages directly to millions of followers. TechCrunch has more on Jason's offer here. Even if Twitter kills the suggested page, this exchange provides a hint of how powerful (and profitable) this company can eventually become. We continue to think it will eventually be worth more than $1 billion.

Social Networking, Social Search and New Jobs!
Hard to believe, but social networking has eclipsed email in popularity. Social networking has become a fundamental part of the global online experience! While two-thirds of the global online population already accesses member community sites, their vigorous adoption and the migration of time show no signs of slowing. Social networking will continue to alter not just the global online landscape, but the consumer experience at large. The current level of advertising activity on social networks isn’t consummate with the size–and highly engaged levels–of the audience. Nor will it be, unless the sites figure out a way to exploit the personal data of their users without making them feel like their privacy has been invaded. New approaches to the ad model are required. It will take time to work out the magic formula for successfully advertising in social networks. The diversity and personalised nature of the environment means standard ad models–such as contextual search and standard unit sizes–won’t cut it.
So-called Web 2.0 social software applications such as weblogs, wikis, chat forums and instant messaging let users easily communicate with each other and with groups, and manage and share information in a highly interactive way. by using social software, a huge variety of internal company information of value to employees is captured. Bookmarks, browser favourites, or recommendations becomes a repository of intelligence for the whole organisation. If you are searching for information in the company, results are filtered in a more intelligent way. You can look at a document and see who has been accessing and commenting on it. You will see the people most active in the social networking space. Social search is a search feature that returns search results incorporating relevant sites that friends, family or colleagues within an organisation have recommended.
Once you get to a certain level in your career, you can attribute most new jobs to your network and not your resume. It is always preferable for a hiring manager to reach out to people they trust for recommendations on hires. But many people in our industry don’t know how to network. Focusing on technical skills can only go so far. The following is a list of networking ideas that have worked for many successful people in IT and in business.

Diarrheal Diseases, Soap/Water and Teach Children!
The health consequences of inadequate water and sanitation services include an estimated 4 billion cases of diarrhea and 1.9 million deaths each year, mostly among young children in developing countries. Diarrheal diseases lead to decreased food intake and nutrient absorption, malnutrition, reduced resistance to infection, and impaired physical growth and cognitive development. Since 1996, a large body of published work has proven the effectiveness of interventions to improve water quality through household water treatment and safe storage (HWTS) at reducing diarrheal disease.
Many diarrhoeal diseases are passed on by dirty food and water. Knowledge about hygiene, and effective action in the household and the community will help prevent the spread of disease. Put all garbage in a container in a safe place away from children; keep it covered to keep out flies and rats. When it is full, take it to a special pit or dump, where it can be composted, buried or burnt. You should wash your hands with soap and water, after using the latrine/defaecating, before cooking, before eating or feeding children, before breastfeeding, after touching animals and poultry or anything dirty and after eating. Put all animal and human excreta into the latrine, and teach children to use the latrine. If there is no latrine, bury or burn excreta. Keep the latrine clean at all times. Put all food scraps into a special container which is covered and kept out of reach of children and animals.
Children learn many important things in life by observing how the adults around them act or listening to the things they say. Today the environment is a topic that is being discussed more and more in the home and at school. This is especially true in Australia where a water shortage is projected to become a critical problem within the next 10 to 20 years. One of the best ways to teach children about the environment is to show them actual and practical ways they can address issues such as water management. A child will always remember more about what they are learning when able to participate. When you install a rain water system, you can actually show your children how taking specific steps to conserve water is important. You prove to children that just talking about water conservation is not enough, because each person must actually do something tangible to save water.
